The City of Brandon Sanitation Department is currently recruiting for self-motivated, responsible team players to work in the following areas:

  • Landfill & Material Recovery Facility
  • Sanitation Collection

You must enjoy working outdoors, performing regular physical activity that can be repetitive in nature and in all types of weather. Preferred candidates will have relevant work experience involving general labour or other related work. You will possess the following: excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work well independently, as well as in a team setting and have knowledge of applicable safe work procedures. Additional assets would be to possess the ability to operate equipment and some knowledge of municipal infrastructure. You must possess and maintain a Class 3 with Air Endorsement Driver’s licence in order to be eligible.

Hours of work: The Casual Labourer normally works full-time hours (40 hours per week) but the workday may include evenings, nights, weekends and days.

*Casual Labourers have the opportunity to apply for other opportunities, including permanent positions, which are only open to current City of Brandon CUPE Local 69 employees.

Rate of Pay: $18.78 – 21.34. per hour - 2018 rate.

Duration of position: While most Casual Labourer positions are seasonal in nature, usually lasting until late fall, there is the possibility of longer assignments.
