Position Summary:
The Southern Chiefs’ Organization Inc. (SCO) is seeking to have filled a Community Health Transformation Liaison (Liaison) for a full-time position. The Liaison will support a community-driven engagement process “Exercising our Treaty and Inherent Right to Health Transformation Initiative” on Health Transformation in Southern Manitoba (Initiative).
The position will be located in the community and will have requirements to travel to Winnipeg to attend orientation, professional development trainings, SCO events, gatherings and meetings as recommended. The Liaison will work closely with the SCO’s Navigator that is assigned at the beginning of their employment and work with the Health Transformation Staff.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communication and Coordination Responsibilities:
• Facilitate coordination of engagement sessions and events on the Initiative within the respective First Nation.
• Facilitate the communication and coordination of information and activities related to the Initiative among SCO, community, community members and leadership.
• Gather feedback, advice, and guidance from their community whether it be through one-on-one sessions, gathering sessions and community engagements
• Provide assistance and coordination on events that may be held outside the community as needed.
• Work alongside the Health transformation team and assist in responding timely to community requests for resources and information as required in the engagement process of the Initiative.

Evaluation and Data Collection
• Work directly with their regional navigator to have regular updates on the community activities and input information into a database when activities are done relating to SCO’s Initiatives.

Representing Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations in southern Manitoba
• Work with their regional navigators in preparing and distributing evaluation of the Initiative that is community-led and participatory.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Mandatory requirements are to attend Orientation, training and professional development
opportunities and quarterly in-person meetings
• Participate and engage in weekly department staff meetings via teleconference
• Participate and engage in monthly SCO Health staff meetings via teleconference or in person
• Mandatory monthly reports on activities completed in community according to HT template
• Manage community engagement budget according to SCO guidelines
• Other duties as assigned as per community, Regional Navigator, and Senior Program Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 diploma/GED or college diploma
• Ability to develop and foster relationships with community, stakeholders and partners
• Experience working or volunteering with First Nations’ members and/or organizations
• Ability to think critically
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Knowledge and skills relating to social media for SCO community engagement sessions
• Ability to work independently as well as team collaboration
• Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook and office equipment
• Ability to speak the language of the community is an asset
