Job Title: Community liaison researcher
Organization Name: Birdtail Country Museum
Job Location: Birtle, Manitoba
Length of assignment: May 1st to 30th August (16 weeks)
Hourly wage: $20.00

Job Description:
The Birdtail Country Museum is looking for a person to work as a liaison between the museum and our neighbouring Indigenous communities for the purpose of interviewing, recording, and gathering stories to contribute to the museum’s archives.

In addition, research and investigation into the history of the Birtle Residential School will be part of the job. Planning an event to coincide with the Grand Opening of the museum (June 24th) that will have an Indigenous component is also encouraged.

Qualifications:
• Recent high school graduate or student registered in a post secondary program preferred.
• An interest in Indigenous culture and history with an understanding of the reconciliation process.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent writing and reading skills required.
• Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s licence essential.
• Details: This is a full time position (40 hours/week) with flexible hours.
