When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

The Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Correctional Officer I.

Our greatest hiring needs are at the following locations: Drumheller Institution (Drumheller, AB); Edmonton Institution (Edmonton, AB); Grande Cache Institution (Grande Cache, AB); Bowden Institution (Innisfail, AB); Saskatchewan Penitentiary (Prince Albert, SK); Kent Institution (Agassiz, BC); Port-Cartier Institution (Port-Cartier, QC); Donnacona Institution (Donnaconna, QC); Millhaven Institution (Bath, ON); Warkworth Institution (Campbellford, ON); Beaver Creek Institution (Gravenhurst, ON); Atlantic Institution (Renous, NB) – bilingual; Dorchester Penitentiary (Dorchester, NB) – bilingual.

Note: In addition to the above high-need locations, this pool may be used to staff other positions across Canada.

Candidates will be sent an email invitation to complete an online Correctional Officer I Candidate Questionnaire via Survey Monkey within three weeks of submitting an application. Failure to complete the questionnaire within the prescribed time will result in your elimination from this process.

For this selection process, it is our intention to communicate with candidates via email for screening and assessment purposes. This will include communication of results and invitations to written tests and interviews. To that end, candidates must include a valid email address in their application. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that this address is functional and that it accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email) and frequently check their inbox and JUNK/SPAM folders. It is also the candidate's responsibility to ensure accurate information is provided and updated as required.

Once candidates have passed all stages of evaluation and are selected for the Correctional Training Program (CTP), they become recruits and must successfully complete the online phase and then attend a 14-week in residence phase at the CSC Training Academy in Kingston, ON or Summerside, PEI.

Intent of the process: This is an ongoing inventory that will be used to establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates. The applications received will be periodically accessed and applicants will be contacted for further assessment.

Positions to be filled: Number to be determined

Candidates will be required to provide proof of education and driver's license.

Candidates who are permanent residents will also be required to provide proof of permanent resident card.

Applicants are entitled to participate in the selection process in the official language of their choice.

Indigenous candidates may be eligible for an allowance for participation in CTP Stage 3 through either the Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) or a local Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ISET) stakeholder. For more information on how to access training support dollars please consult the NWAC website at https://www.nwac.ca/iset/ or scroll through the following website to access a local agreement holder at https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/indigenous-skills-employment-training.html.

We thank all those who apply. Only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
