Work environment - Please be advised this process will be used to staff positions in the new department of Indigenous Services Canada. The creation of Indigenous Services Canada is an important development in our renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples. These structural changes will allow our government to work more effectively with Indigenous partners to provide services that improve people’s day-to-day quality of life. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some employees of Indigenous Services Canada are currently working remotely. The department is actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their usual workspaces. Therefore, this opportunity may initially be a remote working opportunity. When it is deemed safe to return to the workplace, the opportunity will be in an Indigenous Services Canada office.

Intent of the process

Intent to fill anticipatory vacancies.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions in various locations with various tenures such as permanent specified term, acting, assignments/secondments, or deployments. It may also be used to staff identical or similar positions by other regions or federal departments across Canada.

Education

  • Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience relevant to the position.

Experience:

  • Experience in the provision of client services.
  • Experience in using a financial system.

Education:

  • Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics OR possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.
  • Actively pursuing and enrolled in the CPA, CA, CMA or CGA program

Experience:

  • Recent* and significant** in using SAP or a similar financial system
  • Experience with Grants and Contributions
  • Experience with Travel Claims
  • Experience with Accounts Payable
  • Experience with Accounts Receivable
  • Experience with Journal Vouchers/Journal Entries
  • Experience in federal government accounting processes.
  • Experience working effectively with First Nations, Inuit and or Métis

*Recent experience is defined as within the last four years.
** Significant experience is defined as experience that would normally be acquired over the period of at least one year.
