Teine is currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Geoscience Summer Student to join our Chauvin and Wainwright asset team in the Calgary head office for a 4-month term starting in May 2025. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in petroleum prospect generation, working within a collaborative and integrated team environment. As a member of the development team, you will contribute geological and geophysical expertise while demonstrating strong technical skills and proficiency in key geoscience workflows. The position provides direct exposure to the petroleum industry, mentorship from seasoned geoscience professionals, and exceptional networking opportunities both within the company and across the industry.

Summary of Duties:

  • Utilize geological and geophysical data and workflows within an assigned project area to develop drilling prospects and identify new opportunities.
  • Research regional geology and depositional environments, compile subsurface data, build stratigraphic correlations, create geological and geophysical maps, and analyze key reservoir characteristics.
  • Integrate core information, well log analysis, production data, and other subsurface data into comprehensive evaluations.
  • Perform synthetic modeling and interpret both 3D and 2D seismic data at a high level.
  • Conduct industry activity research in relevant areas to identify analogs.
  • Assist with core logging and interpretation at the AER Core Research Centre.
  • Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and technical management to identify and refine drilling prospects.
  • Demonstrate strong data organization and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Present project progress regularly to the team and management, culminating in a final presentation at the end of the summer term.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, geophysical methods, and petroleum systems.
  • A motivated problem-solver with a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
  • Effective communicator, capable of working collaboratively within a team and office environment.
  • Prior exposure to oil and gas workflows (through academic projects, internships, or work experience) is an asset but not a requirement.
