Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is offering a three-month paid position through our partnership with The Tyee, to create an in-depth reporting project on a public interest issue!

JHR's Indigenous Reporters Program (IRP) seeks to increase the quality and quantity of Indigenous stories and voices in Canadian media. We have partnered with the Tyee, a digital journalism outlet based in Vancouver BC, to offer the Emerging Indigenous Reporters Internship. The purpose of this internship is to work with the Tyee on a three-month, in-depth reporting project on a public interest issue.

Funding for this position is specifically for an emerging Indigenous reporter. Applicants will self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).

About the Tyee: It is a pioneering digital journalism outlet based in B.C. It is widely read and respected platform for forward thinking, public-interest journalism on issues such as inequality, energy, and working life.

About JHR: Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is Canada's Leading Media Development organization. Through skills training and development, JHR empowers journalists to report ethically and effectively on local human rights issues. JHR launched the Indigenous Reporters Program (IRP) in 2014, that works to increase the quality and quantity of Indigenous stories and voices in Canadian media.
