Lecturer and Coordinator in Digital Pedagogy & Literacies (Term-2 years)

The Faculty of Education at the University of Regina invites applications for a Lecturer and Coordinator in Digital Pedagogy & Literacies (DP&L) for a two-year term appointment (with the possibility of extension) with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2021.

The Faculty of Education seeks an individual who can contribute to the Digital Pedagogy & Literacies area with a focus on the principles and practices of social and ecological justice. The Faculty has a strong orientation towards social and environmental
justice issues in education and is committed to enacting the themes, vision, values and mission of the University’s Strategic Plan. Consistent with this orientation, the Digital Pedagogy & Literacies area supports students to critically engage with digital pedagogies and literacy practices in K-12 schools as well as in non-formal and informal education settings.

Duties:

This is a Coordinator position that also has some teaching responsibilities of 3 to 4 courses per year.

• The Lecturer and Coordinator in DP&L, in consultation with the EDTC Chair, will support program delivery and expand digital learning opportunities in both Undergraduate and Graduate programming, as well as contribute to the re-design of teacher education coursework that supports online and blended learning practices and pedagogies;
• The Lecturer and Coordinator in DP&L will support subject and program areas within the Faculty of Education in translating their program goals into effective practice, building teaching expertise and capacity, conducting research and designing pedagogical resources, initiatives and approaches;
• Advising instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum;
• Researching and recommending digital tools and best practices related to teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and development for Faculty and staff with digital pedagogy and literacies. Courses to be taught will be determined according to the needs of the Faculty. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the EDTC area; engage with EDTC area colleagues as well as educational partners in ongoing program renewal; assume active involvement in the Secondary and Elementary Program groups; supervise students during school practicum experiences; assume active involvement in the collegial governance of the Faculty; and support the review and development of secondary and elementary program offerings.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess a relevant Master’s degree; however, a Ph.D. is preferred. The ideal candidate should have significant university teaching experience related to digital pedagogy and literacies in the secondary and elementary contexts. The candidate should have (or be eligible for) a valid Professional A (Saskatchewan) teaching certificate and have a strong dossier of teaching experience which includes work in the secondary and elementary contexts. Candidates should be ready to demonstrate a commitment to social and ecological justice, truth and reconciliation, and/or decolonizing work in education as part of their overall pedagogy.

Additional Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in analyzing needs, evaluating and recommending appropriate technology for teaching and learning goals
• Demonstrated experience in developing resources on educational related matters for instructors and subject matter experts and providing advice on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum

Salary Range: Depending on qualifications and experience, normally in the Lecturer range ($81,102 - $101,070) as per URFA Collective Agreement.
