Position: Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Work Location: Opportunity to be partially remote, some requirement to come into branches and attend community events, some travel may be required.
Compensation: $20.00/hour
Anticipated Start Date: Early January 2023
Regular Weekly Hours: 15 hours per week – part-time, flexible schedule
Employee Group: Out of Scope
Term: This is a one-year term with the possibility of extension.
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will:
- Oversee marketing and communications operations for the regional system (6 library branches)
- Manage social media platforms
- Provide support and expertise in public and community relations
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a marketing and communications plan that aligns with the current WMRL Strategic Plan
- Create a set of guidelines for our social media platform usage: graphics standards, posting schedule, and best practices
- Work with staff advising on promotional campaigns and communicating marketing initiatives
- Design, create and edit promotional and marketing resources/materials: print and digital content
- Manage regular and engaging content across all social media platforms for the WMRL
- Take photos and videos for promotional content
- Assist with writing content that promotes library programs and services
- Assist with managing content on the WMRL website
- Stay up to date on new trends in the marketing and communication field
- Manage the Marketing Budget for the WMRL
- Make recommendations and oversee the implementation of any new initiatives that would align well with the WMRL’s mission

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Expertise and proficiency with computer hardware and software, including internet and digital communications
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Organization and time management skills
Education and Experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Training or experience in marketing and communications would be considered an asset: current students are encouraged to apply
- Comfortable learning various eResources platforms and attending library programming
- Excellent understanding of social media
- Experience with photography, cinematography, and writing are an asset
