The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing representative for the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. The Manitoba Metis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Post-Secondary Education Clerk position within our Provincial Education Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Director of Post-Secondary Education, the Post-Secondary Education Clerk conducts initial interviews and needs assessments with post-secondary students, completing the intake process to determine financial assistance eligibility for Post-Secondary Education programs and services.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Fields and responds to general inquiries from the public and provide information on Provincial Education programs & services;
  • Assists students with the application process and ensure they are providing the information required;
  • Creates, organizes, and maintains the filing systems for the office including both hard copy and electronic files;
  • Completes the initial documentation of clients, both paper and electronic, ensuring all forms are complete and appropriate sections of the casefile are completed accurately and all relevant information is obtained;
  • Ongoing use of client case management, including completing follow ups and file closures;
  • Photocopies and organizes documents for distribution, mailing, filing and faxing;
  • Prepares cheque requisitions for post-secondary students who are being funded;
  • Assists in scheduling, preparing for and making arrangements for meetings.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education & experience in the Administrative or Social Services field or an equivalent combination of related education, training & experience;
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in an administrative or direct client services capacity;
  • Experience maintaining confidential records and files;
  • Demonstrated experience taking accurate meeting minutes and meeting notes;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Metis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
