Recreation Leader – Level 3

Outdoor Water – Spray Park Attendant

*More than one (1) position may be filled*

Under the general direction of the Aquatic Programmer, incumbents will provide a safe and fun environment for members of the public. Team work, supervision, communicating with the public and maintenance tasks are key components of this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in spray park activities under the direction of the Aquatic Programmer
  • Provide leadership and direction to the participants and show enthusiasm;
  • Provide a safe, cooperative and enjoyable environment for program participants;
  • Ensure public health guidelines are adhered to at all times;
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work successfully independently and in a team atmosphere;
  • Able to problem-solve, plan and organize daily activities;
  • Excellent public relations skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to positively communicate and interact with people of all ages;
  • Energetic, creative and relates positively with children.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Emergency First Aid/Level C CPR (to be obtained upon hire);
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check;
  • Related experience in recreation, programming, education, instruction, lifetime sports background;
  • Previous experience working with children;
  • Previous experience working in a multi-ethnic setting.

Rate of Pay:

$15.30 per hour - 2023 rates.

Position Conditions:  This seasonal position will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69.
