Job Title: Retail Associate

Position Type: Part Time or Full time

Reports to: Team Lead

Purpose: The Retail Sales Associate will always provide excellent customer service to all customers. You will make customers feel welcome in our store, help identify client needs, present and answer questions about our products and services, and recommend solutions. You will also be responsible for having a positive attitude and desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints. You will ensure that customers leave our store satisfied, contributing to the store’s profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct customers
  • Operate POS system to finalize customer transactions
  • Inform customers about discounts and special offers
  • Provide accurate product information to customers (i.e., product features, pricing, and after-sales services)
  • Conduct price and feature comparisons to facilitate purchasing
  • Upsell products and services
  • Stay up to date with new products and services
  • Assist with returns of merchandise when needed
  • Coordinate with other Retail Associates to provide excellent customer service (especially during peak times)
  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked, and all products are priced and labeled
  • Ensure the store is kept clean and organized by completing daily task lists assigned by the Store Team Lead
  • Provide customer feedback to the Store/Greenhouse Team Leads
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Completion of some secondary education or equivalent
  • Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license: an asset
  • Excellent computer and phone skills (POS Systems, etc.)
  • Experience in a retail store environment or similar role
  • Some cash handling/counting experience

Physical Conditions:

The duties of the Retail Associate are carried out primarily in an outdoor environment.

  • Uses hands, arms, and shoulders when using various types of equipment (daily).
  • Prepared to lift heavy loads as required
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground (occasionally).
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and seasons
  • Prolonged standing

 Psychological/Stress Conditions:

The Retails Associate position workload and environment do not generally increase employees' emotional or stress levels.

  • Interruptions and requests from multiple areas (daily).
  • Multitasking (daily).
  • Proofreading, repetitive movements such as typing (daily).
  • Job demands versus time constraints (daily).
  • Periods of intense concentration when meeting deadlines and during peak periods (occasionally).
  • Participates in group decision-making and projects (occasionally).

 Work Conditions:

The Retail Associate works independently and in a team environment.

  • Works in a shared and consultative manner with other employees (daily).
  • Wide variety of tasks requiring the ability to manage multiple unrelated projects and make independent decisions (daily).
