 Job Title: Sales Floor Lead

Reports to: Selling Sales Manager

Purpose:  To excel in this role as a Sales Floor Lead, you must possess strong leadership skills.  Candidates will be responsible for motivating and training team members and provide exceptional customer service. You will have strong communication skills and be able to make customers feel welcome in our store. You will help identify client needs, present and answer questions about our products and services, and recommend solutions. An exceptional buying experience for customers is a must.  A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints will make you successful in this role. A person well-versed in landscape materials, spas, saunas, turf, and brick sales is the perfect candidate for this job.  Ultimately, you will ensure that customers leave our store satisfied, and you will contribute to the store’s profitability.

Sales Responsibilities:

  • Greet and direct customers
  • Provide accurate product information (e.g., product features, pricing, and after-sales services)
  • Answer customers’ questions about specific products/services
  • Reaching out to potential leads through various channels, such as email, phone, text, social media, etc.
  • Negotiating with leads and using persuasion techniques to overcome objections and landing deals that are beneficial to the company while also providing the customer with optimal value
  • Conduct price and feature comparisons to facilitate purchasing
  • Process customer orders and submit to the Selling Sales Manager/Store Manager for approval
  • Maintain working relationships with existing clients to ensure that they receive exceptional customer service
  • Manage returns of merchandise when necessary
  • Create/maintain contractor relationships
  • Coordinate with the Store Manager and Selling Sales Manager to provide excellent customer service (especially during peak times)
  • Inform customers about discounts and special offers
  • Achieve sales goals by assessing client needs and following the selling process with potential buyers, including product demos and presentations
  • Preparing and submitting sales contracts for orders
  • Representing the Livingstone Outdoor brand
  • Stay up to date with new products/services
  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked and all products are priced and labeled
  • Use company software to produce basic design layouts and quantity takeoffs for inquiring customers
  • Process and estimate customer orders
  • Provide relief as Forklift Operator when required (holiday, sick time coverage, no forklift operator, etc.)
  • Produce quotes for inquiring customer projects, including but not limited to brick/stone materials, spas, saunas, plants, aggregate materials, equipment needed, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and assistance to anyone entering the Garden Center, Gift Shop, or Greenhouse/Nursery
  • Provide ongoing training to members of the retail associates' team
  • Ensure the Garden Center remains clean and organized at all teams
  • Perform regular spot checks to verify that all products and materials are accurately priced and labeled
  • Organize the loading and unloading of equipment or materials
  • Able to operate POS systems, phone systems, and handheld radios
  • Mediate between the retail associates and management team to address complaints and dissatisfaction
  • Have a positive approach to promotions and motivate retail associates at all times
  • Support the Selling Sales Manager with achieving goals and targets
  • Be acquainted and up-to-date on all sales items and procedures to provide accurate information to clients to enhance sales transactions
  • Respond to phone calls and in-house radio calls
  • Perform product demonstrations to customers
  • Supervise opening and closing procedures
  • Balance till/pos at the beginning and end of each day
  • Manage the alarm system, including setting, disarming, and troubleshooting when needed
  • Any other duties as assigned

 

Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Sales Pro or similar role
  • Possess a valid Class 5F Driver’s license
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Understanding of the retail sales process
  • Possess the Responsible Service Certification from Smart Choices
  • Familiarity with consumer behaviour principles
  • Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures
  • Basic math skills and geometry skills
  • Possess basic knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and supplies
  • College and/or University education in a related field an asset
  • Familiarity and experience with social media strategies and platforms
  • Experience with content creation and graphic design; a considerable asset
  • Experience with power engine equipment sales; an asset
  • Experience in construction, landscape, and design settings; an asset
  • Certified in Forklift operations
  • Certified in Loader operations, an asset

Physical Conditions:

The duties of the Sales Floor Lead are carried out in a retail environment, including events, networking, site visits, etc.

  • Sits at a desk using a keyboard and office equipment (daily).
  • Uses hands, arms, and shoulders when using various types of office equipment (daily).
  • Prepared to lift heavy loads as required
  • Ability to cross on uneven ground when doing construction site visits (occasionally).
  • Ability to work outside when doing site visits (occasionally)
  • Standing for prolonged periods
