Duties:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Research Partnerships & Innovation, the Technology Access Centre (TAC) Director is responsible for the strategic planning, business strategy and operational management of the Prairie Research Kitchen. This position manages the financial and human resources of the TAC and ensures appropriate quality measures and standards are in place. The incumbent actively markets the services of the TAC and secures applied research projects in sufficient volumes to fund the ongoing operation of the TAC. Acts as a bridge between researchers and businesses to ensure that impactful products, technologies, policies, procedures and services are effectively transitioned from research to practical applications in the real world.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Food Sciences and/or Master of Business Administration. Combination of Education and experience may be considered
- Extensive knowledge of the state of technology and industry trends in the fields of food science application and analysis, food product development, market research, and entrepreneurship
- Experience with business development/planning, operations management, marketing and sales is required
- Experience leading projects, defining project scopes and management of research projects
- Experience gained through employment with private sector firms or public-sector entities focused on applied research and the implementation or commercialization of new/improved products, processes or services
- Previous experience within an academic/applied research setting required
- Demonstrated experience in applying for and managing research grants
- Strong oral communication skills required
- Excellent written communication skills required

Salary: $84,000 - $114,929 per annum
