The Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of educational technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level. In the undergraduate program the teaching focus will be educational technology courses.

At the graduate level, responsibilities may include teaching educational technology, curriculum, and/or research methodology focused courses, and supervision of graduate thesis students. Candidates will have teaching experience, an active or emerging research agenda, and publications in the area of educational technology.

The Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy is oriented to deepening learning as part of an informed teaching practice. It is designed for those who wish to advance their own pedagogical thinking in a subject area, taking as its premise that understanding of subjects through disciplined inquiry leads to new interpretations of the practice of teaching. The Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy views teaching as inherently responsive, requiring both a continued deepening of understanding of an area of study and a self-reflexive approach to one’s own teaching practice and identity. As a department, we aim to introduce this process in the undergraduate program. In the graduate program, the process is further developed as teaching experience and theoretical acuity increase.

The Brandon University Faculty of Education serves over 400 undergraduate students in its after degree and integrated education programs and over 300 graduate students in its master’s programs. Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in education or a related field (candidates who have a master’s degree and are currently enrolled in a doctoral program may also be considered)
  • Familiarity with current and emerging trends in the field of educational technology
  • Evidence of successful teaching in the K-12 system and/or evidence of successful teaching at the postsecondary level
  • An active or developing research agenda in the area of educational technology and/or curriculum and pedagogy
  • A commitment to teamwork and service within the Faculty, University, and to developing relationships with the broader K-12 community
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication

  • Demonstrated leadership in the area of educational technology
  • Commitment to addressing contemporary issues in the field of critical digital pedagogy, ethics of digital technologies, technology equity, creating makerspaces in educational contexts, an orientation of inquiry toward pedagogy and curriculum, and digital literacy and citizenship
