This staffing process may be used to staff a variety of SP05, SP06 and AU01 positions in CRA offices across Western Region. Some positions may be staffed  virtually, and some will require physically reporting to the office location.

•    SP-05 positions (salary range $62,858 to 70,749)

•    SP-06 Positions (salary range $68,012 to $76,545)

•    AU-01 Positions (salary range $64,605 to $84,590)*

A pool of eligible candidates will be established for each physical work location.  As part of the application process you will be asked which location you are interested in being considered for. Candidates may be considered for pools based on your location of interest. The pools established from this staffing process may be used to staff similar positions in the Western Region.

The screening, assessment and testing of candidates may be prioritized based on location of position vacancies.

Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad who have graduated, or will be graduating, from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution between December 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023, with a minimum of a one-year certificate/diploma/degree

AND eligible veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members

AND individuals with preferred status who live or work within the general rule of minimum distance of the position(s) being staffed.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans, Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

We may give preference to the first 50 candidates who meet the staffing requirements to apply in each location. Preference may be given to candidates in designated Employment Equity groups, where an Employment Equity gap exists in the location being staffed. Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Vancouver, Surrey, Kelowna, Penticton, Victoria and Prince George. If you are a candidate from the general public, you will have to pay for any expenses related to your participation in this staffing process, as well as any relocation costs if you receive an offer of employment from this process.

Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

Essential staffing requirements

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

Education

You must have graduated, or will be graduating, from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution between December 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023 with a minimum of a one-year certificate /diploma/degree.

 

SpecificEducation for AU-01 positions: 

The eligibility for a designation from a recognized professional accounting association; or

degree from a recognized postsecondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting*.

* Acceptable specialization in accounting must include the following mandatory study area and two of four optional study areas:

Manditory study areas:

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Advanced Financial Reporting or FA4 or Advanced Financial Accounting or Advanced Accounting

Two of four optional study areas:

  1. CPA Audit and Assurance or AU1 or Auditing or Internal Auditing or Internal Control
  2. CPA Introductory Management Accounting or MA1 or Cost Accounting or Management Accounting 1 and 2
  3. CPA Intermediate Management Accounting or MA2 or Management Accounting or Management Accounting 4 or Advanced Management Accounting
  4. CPA Information Technology or MS1 or Accounting Information Systems or Information and Computer Systems or Management Information Systems

The courses required for the acceptable specialization in accounting may or may not be part of a degree program, but must be accredited by a recognized postsecondary institution or a recognized professional accounting association.

Specific Education for SP-06 and SP-05 positions: 

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Intermediate Financial Reporting 1 and 2, or FA2 and FA3, or Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 and 2, or Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2.

Note:  You must upload your proof of graduation and transcripts to the Education Section of your Candidate Profile by the closing date and time of this poster showing that you have met the above education requirements.  If you are currently enrolled in courses to complete your degree/diploma/one-year certificate in September, you must upload your transcripts verifying your enrollment to the Education Section of your Candidate Profile by the closing date and time of this poster. Only upon submission of your transcripts showing you have met the above education requirement and obtained the pass mark required will we be able to offer you employment. The anticipated start date for these positions is January 2024.

If you have foreign education credentials:

•    You must have your education confirmed by a recognized credential assessment service and provide proof of Canadian equivalency to the staffing board. For more information visit the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.

•    Additionally, foreign accounting courses must be evaluated by the Chartered Professional Accountants or a recognized postsecondary institutionfor Canadian equivalency.
