Volunteer Recruiter / Manager

Purpose: To support the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum in telling the story of the Royal Canadian Air Force training during World War II

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Development of recruitment materials, such as posters, PSA’s and pamphlets
  • Research may be needed to identify the target market for particular volunteer positions
  • Distribution of recruitment materials to appropriate locations
  • Coordinate and report all recruitment activities to the Executive Director
  • Plan and Coordinate with Executive Director any recruitment events or volunteer fairs
  • Follow up with new volunteers to ensure they have received appropriate orientation and are happy with their assignments/tasks
  • Identify and task appropriate number of volunteers to support designated events throughout the year, primarily June - September.

Time Requirements:Flexible hours, some weekend work may be required. Time commitment of one to three hours per week during recruitment campaigns

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and present professional image of the Museum to the public
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are required
  • Creativity and innovating ideas are an asset to this position
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan events and campaigns

Orientation & Training: Two to three hours of museum orientation and history of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan

Supervision: Reports to the museum Executive Director

Supporting Policies: Museum Ethics policy and Volunteer program

Working Conditions: Office environment, primarily working independently
