Director, Physical Plant – Position Overview
Facilities:
- The Brandon campus includes 20 buildings, totaling 900,000 s.f., on approximately 30 acres of land in the centre of the City.
- The Winnipeg Campus includes a relatively small amount of rented space in the Rice Building adjacent to the University of Winnipeg.
Fundamental Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing and controlling the department and project budgets, long range capital planning, expenditures, and departmental policies & procedures.
- Meetings with Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, Faculty, and Staff as required
- Responsible for Security Services and contracted security services provider campuswide.
- Capital planning & construction – meet with consultants including Architects and Engineers with
regards to the design and construction of new buildings, major renovations and alterations.
- Direct supervision of Building Services Worker staff & operations.
- Indirect supervision of the Trades staff with the Facilities Manager.
- Required to oversee and participate in after-hours on-call program.
- Oversee the function of Physical Plant office and all processes such as work requests, work orders, purchase orders, month end reports, security reports, etc.
- Develop strategies and programs to increase effectiveness and efficiency of department responsibilities.

- Brandon City Police, RCMP & Security Services Provider
- Architects, Consulting Engineers, Building Inspectors & other authorities having jurisdiction
- Suppliers and contractors
- Business Manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) union
