As a member of the Brandon University Food Service team, you will uphold high standards of quality and service as set by the Food Services Manager and Executive Chef.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include supporting daily operations by covering cashier duties; maintaining the BU Fresh cooler, with a focus on keeping it stocked with fresh fruit, including preparing fruit cups for the following day; assisting with BU Fresh tasks; executing and setting up catering functions; and adhering to all specifications and system protocols such as temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and prep lists. Additional duties include general cleaning as outlined in the system pack; food preparation for catering; dishwashing duties, and cashier coverage as needed. Flexibility and attention to detail are essential to support overall food service operations. Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, as well as related experience in food production and handling. Must have excellent customer service skills, cashier experience, and a knowledge of kitchen equipment and of cleaning chemicals. Must be able to lift up to 20 kilograms, follow oral and written instructions, and work quickly. Must present clean and tidy appearance and follow all Manitoba Health regulations concerning hair and dress. Safe Food Handling course is required. The successful candidate must work well independently and in a team environment with a strong desire to succeed. A physical demands assessment may be conducted as part of the hiring process.
*NOTE*
This position is open to current internal MGEU candidates only. This is a full-time term position until August 31, 2027, with the possibility for yearly contract renewals, and is subject to layoff or reduced hours during periods of slow activity. The schedule operates across a seven-day week and includes working two out of every six weekends. Hours and scheduling may vary based on operational needs.
