2026/2027, Fall & Winter, Course-Based Opportunities, Department of Rural & Community Studies – Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) to teach the following courses taught in the Department of Rural & Community Studies at the Brandon University Campus for the Fall Session in Term 1 and the Winter Session in Term 2.
The course may be delivered in an online synchronous format but preference will be given to qualified candidates who will teach in-person.
Qualifications: Applicants must have successful teaching experience and relevant expertise Rural & Community Studies. They will hold a Master’s Degree in a related field, and those holding a Ph.D. or who are at the ABD stage may be preferred. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Master’s degree and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.
Salary: $8,132 per 3 credit hour course.

Fall Term: Classes run from September 9 to December 11, 2026, with an exam period following.
Winter Term: Classes run from January 5 to April 9, 2027, with an exam period following.
88:260 INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – Slot 10 (Tues. and Thurs. 8:30am – 9:50am) – Fall 2026
This course examines the concepts, values, principles and strategies of community organization and development as an introduction to community organization and development theory and practice.
88:261 RURAL SOCIETY – Slot 10 (Tues. and Thurs. 8:30am – 9:50am) – Winter 2027
An examination of the structure, social organization and change of “rural” and “remote” Canada. Special attention will be focused on socio demographic trends, structure of agriculture, the environment and selected rural social institutions.
