Probationary (Tenure-Track) Position, Academic Skills Specialist – Student Services

Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment as an Academic Skills Specialist in Student Services.

The Academic Skills Centre offers one-to-one and small group instruction designed to help students understand and use mathematics. The duties of the Academic Skills Specialist will include assessing the needs of students and groups of students, developing, implementing and executing programs and services to meet these needs, and training and supervising Group and Peer Tutors. The Academic Skills Specialist will participate in the general initiatives of Student Services and collaborate with faculty in the development of targeted workshops. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in teaching calculus, statistics, and/or algebra to students across disciplines. Relevant training and experience will be considered as an asset.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics or related field. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Master’s Degree and are invited to contact the Office of the Dean of Student Services on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.

Rank: Professional Associate

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
