Duties:

The Research Assistant will work closely with Dr. Sheila Novek and an interdisciplinary team of researchers at Brandon University, University of Manitoba and the University of Victoria. They will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with research team and community partners to plan data collection activities at sites in Brandon and Dauphin
  • Organizing recruitment documents and procedures
  • Contributing to data collection and analysis (focus groups, survey administration)
  • Participating in bi-weekly research team meetings with an interdisciplinary research team
  • Contributing to knowledge translation activities (newsletters, reports, presentations, academic articles)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience: 

  • Enrolled in graduate training in Nursing, Gerontology, Sociology or a related field would be preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • High regard for quality and attention to detail
  • Strong research and writing skills required
  • Training and experience with qualitative and or quantitative research methods

About the project

The Care Workers of Tomorrow study is a four-year, CIHR-funded longitudinal study examining the transition from education to work for health care aides training at community colleges throughout Manitoba. The study follows a cohort of health care aides from the start of their training through their first year of work using repeatefocus groups and surveys.
