Student Leaders 2018-2019

We are looking for students from every Faculty/program who want to help make a difference on campus for future students and new/first year students and the entire campus community! The Student Leader Program is essential for the success of many of our student engagement programs and activities (i.e. Orientation, Welcome Week, Conferences, Motiv8, Open House, Campus Tours, Brandon Career Symposium, Student for a Day) and more!

Please read carefully before completing the Online Application form:

1) Who can be a Student Leader?

  • students in good academic standing (minimum of a 2.0 “C” Grade Point Average or higher)
  • successfully complete 12 credit hours or more by April 2018
  • willingness to participate in mandatory training:
    • all training opportunities count towards the 20 hour program requirement!
  • interested in gaining work experience for your resume
  • planning to return to your studies at Brandon University in the fall of 2018

2) Your Commitment:

New Student Leaders:

  • attend a 50 minute information/training session AND a 50 minute Campus Tour Training session
  • attend the Final Details Meeting on Wednesday, August 29th at 6:00pm (in order to work Orientation 2018) OR attend the Last Minute Meeting on Orientation Day
  • volunteer for shifts of your choosing beginning as early as April 2018 until May, 2019 – earning a minimum of 20 hours (all training counts towards the 20 hour program requirement)
  • participate in a few online training initiatives

Returning Student Leaders:

  • read the Letter to Returning Student Leaders and attend the Final Details Meeting on Wednesday, August 29th at 6:00pm (in order to work Orientation 2018) OR attend the Last Minute Meeting on Orientation Day
  • volunteer/work shifts of your choosing beginning as early as April 2018 until May, 2019 – earning a minimum of 20 hours (all training counts towards the 20 hour program requirement)
  • participate in a few online training initiatives

3) Get recognized!

Student Leaders who volunteer 20 hours will earn:

  • a Service Learning notation on their University transcript
  • Reference letter useful for future employment, academic opportunities and scholarship/bursary applications
  • Access to Professional Development training opportunities and Student Employment Opportunities!
