Student Leader Program 2026-27
Orientation Day Student Leaders
We are looking for current BU Students from every program/faculty to help our first-year students find their classrooms and give small group campus tours on Orientation Day, Tuesday, September 8th, 2026. Student Leader volunteers also have the option to help at the information booth during the first week of classes and provide help at events throughout the year.
1) Who can be an Orientation Day Student Leader?
- Students planning to return to study in the fall of 2026 at our campus in Brandon
- Willing to attend campus tour training (part of being a good host is knowing your way around campus, even the hard to find classrooms)
- By September 2026 students must:
- hold a minimum 2.0 “C” grade point average
- be registered in at least 6 credit hours
2) What time commitment is required?
- Ability to volunteer at our first-year Orientation Day (approx. 4-6 hours) and/or support campus events the first few weeks of September (i.e. information booths, find your classrooms, BBQs etc.)
- Complete campus tour training and a short online training session (will be recorded)
3) What are the benefits of being a Student Leader?
- The good vibes that come with knowing you’re helping to make our campus community a welcoming place for new students
- Students who continue to volunteer for events throughout the year (15+ hours) are eligible for a reference letter useful for future employment, academic opportunities and scholarship/bursary applications
- Access to Professional Development training opportunities and Student Employment Opportunities
