30.475 Beowulf: Heroes and Monsters
The Old English epic Beowulf is a foundational text in English literature and has become entrenched in today’s pop culture. This course explores in depth this masterwork of the Anglo-Saxon literary period with its themes of heroism, monstrosity, and community. The text is studied in Old English.
Prerequisite: 30.374 Beer, Blood, and Song: Old English Language and Literature, or permission of instructor.
