Beatrix Finta holds a master’s degree with distinction from the Ferenc Liszt University of Music in Budapest, Hungary. Many of her professors were close associates of Zoltán Kodály, including Elizabeth Szönyi. She attended the first music primary school of Budapest. Kodály visited the school often. She was a guest teacher in Ottawa between 1972-74 and was responsible for the training of classroom teachers for 20 schools. She taught daily music lessons in three classes and was a guest lecturer at universities in Ottawa and Toronto. She has given summer Kodály courses at Brandon University, Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Victoria and University of Manitoba. She has conducted the Ottawa Hungarian Choir for 22 years. In honour of this and other volunteer work she received the Pro Cultura Hungarica medal from the Minister of Culture of Hungary.
