Applying for an Award

***NOTE: Brandon University is currently implementing a new scholarships & bursary application system. It is expected to be open to receive applications in late January 2025. As more information is available, it will be distributed to students by email.  Until the new system is live, the current awards application portal is closed.***

A Single Application, Once Each Year

Applying for financial awards is simple: submit a single, comprehensive application once each year, and you will be considered for all of the awards BU offers for which you are eligible. The financial award application typically opens in October for the following year’s award cycle.

Before You Apply

Completing the application is easiest if you have everything at your fingertips before you start. However, you can save your application in the middle and come back to it as many times as you want before submitting.

To log in to the financial award application portal, you will need your BU username and password. If you are a new student, claim your BU ID before you start.

In addition to some basic information, the application will ask you for the following:

  • Your extracurricular activities, community service history, and leadership experience
  • Email addresses for up to two references who can verify your extracurricular activities, community service history, and/or leadership experience
  • A brief statement (up to 500 words) on how a financial award will help you achieve your educational and career goals
  • Detailed financial information, if you want to be considered for awards that have a financial need component
    • It’s important to provide complete, accurate information in this section. See Declaring Financial Need for details on what you will need to submit.
