News

In response to COVID-19, our BCC season has been put on hold.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in so many unexpected ways. It was very difficult to wrap up our activities in the Brandon Conservatory Chorale so abruptly this past spring, with so much still to look forward to. We were all touched and inspired by the outpouring of community spirit in our choral family, and so look forward to the day when we can continue singing together.

With heavy hearts, and in accordance with health policies developed by the Government of
Manitoba and Brandon University, we have determined that it will not be possible to resume BCC rehearsals this fall. We are so sorry to share this news: we all love our BCC family and value the special relationships and communal music-making that we’ve shared for decades. However, our members’ health and safety must remain our top priority. You have our firm commitment that the Brandon Conservatory Chorale will be back. We will devote many resources to a strong re-launch effort when it becomes safe to do so, and we look forward to welcoming you all back with open arms. We are hopeful for a safe return in January if circumstances will allow it.

In the meantime, please continue to visit our website for updated information about Brandon University’s COVID-19 policies and our plans for a return to in-person instruction. We encourage you to consider registering for 1-on-1 vocal lessons with our outstanding team of instructors to keep developing your voices and making music while choral activities are suspended: contact Everett Hopfner in the Conservatory office for more information about your options. Congratulations to our graduates!

Laura Dyson graduated from Vincent Massey High School and is enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan.

Chloe Janse van Rensburg graduated from École secondaire Neelin High School and is enrolled at the University of Manitoba by distance.

Both Chloe and Laura were long-time members of the Brandon Conservatory Chorale.  Their leadership, dedication, musicality, motivation, beautiful voices, and smiling faces will be greatly missed.  We wish them every success in their new adventures.

Congratulations to the Concert and Chamber Choirs for their spirited sing at Grim Acres on October 26!

We are gearing up for our Christmas concert to be held on Saturday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
