ACUFC scholarship in French as a Second Language

Awards: 1; Value: 3000$

Le Programme de bourses d’études postsecondaires en français langue seconde, financé par le gouvernement du Canada et administré par l’Association des collèges et universités de la francophonie canadienne (ACUFC), vise à encourager les étudiantes et étudiants dont la première langue officielle est l’anglais, à poursuivre leurs études postsecondaires en français.

Si ta première langue officielle est l’anglais et que tu poursuis tes études postsecondaires en français au Canada, tu pourrais être admissible à une bourse non renouvelable de 3 000 $.

Comme il s’agit de la première participation de notre institution à ce concours, une seule bourse est offerte cette année.

CRITÈRES D’ADMISSIBILITÉ

• Être citoyenne canadien×ne ou résident×e permanent×e du Canada;
• Avoir l’anglais comme première langue officielle du Canada parlée;
• Avoir fait ses études secondaires dans un établissement anglophone ou de langue non officielle (c’est-à-dire, ni anglophone, ni francophone) et en être diplômé;
• Être inscrit×e à temps plein dans un programme universitaire (d’une durée minimale de deux ans†) dispensé en français dans une entité postsecondaire participant au Programme;
• Suivre au moins 50 % des cours et activités connexes (stages et activités de formation dans la communauté) en français.

†Certains programmes universitaires d’une durée d’un an sont aussi admissibles.

Une attention particulière sera accordée aux étudiantes et étudiants en difficulté financière et à celles et ceux provenant de groupes sous-représentés.

This scholarship is managed internally by the Department.

Dr. Bernard K. Jukpor Scholarship in French

Awards: 4; Matched by the Government of Manitoba.

To be awarded based on academic merit and Departmental recommendation to students who are continuing their studies in French. Preference will be given to those students majoring in French. (May not be shared).

Fiorella Memorial Scholarship in Italiano

Awards: 1

To be awarded to either: a) a student who demonstrates the highest academic achievement in six credit hours of Italian language courses at Brandon University, or b) if there is no eligible candidate as specified in point (a), to an entering student who has demonstrated proficiency in a modern language other than English, with preference given to Italian and Spanish.

John Odin Scholarships

Awards: 3; Matched by Government of Manitoba.

To be awarded to students majoring in the areas of History, Philosophy, and Literature (English and French). Students must be proceeding from second or third year and have demonstrated high academic standing in their respective majors. One scholarship is reserved for each of the designated areas of History, Philosophy, and Literature. In the event that there is no eligible student in a particular area, the scholarship reserved for that area would be given to an eligible student in another designated area. These scholarships may not be shared.
