The Accessibility for Manitobans Act

Brandon University’s commitment to accessibility is guided by the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA), which ensures a consistent approach towards accessibility across the province. Under this legislation, which became law in 2013, the Manitoba government has developed five mandatory accessibility standards.

The standards

These standards, which come into force at different times for public and private-sector organizations in the province, each address a difference subset of barriers for Manitobans in key areas of daily living.

1. Customer Service

Accessible customer service means that Brandon University provides products and services in an efficient, fair and respectful manner to people of all abilities.

Accessible employment ensures that Brandon University provides reasonable accommodations for both employees and job applicants.

Brandon University is focused on removing and preventing barriers that exist digitally, in-print or through interaction with technology or people.

This standard will ensure accessible public transportation, including access to transportation required for going to work or school, shopping and other aspects of daily life.
