Certificate in Business Administration
The Certificate in Business Administration is offered through the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Arts at Brandon University. The program is designed to provide a strong foundation of business concepts in general management, accounting, finance, marketing, and human resource management. It is aimed at those learners with limited or no prior experience in business administration. The program consists of 30 credit hours of university study. Credits earned in the business certificate program may be transferred to Brandon University’s undergraduate programs.
The Certificate in Business Administration Program is offered on campus, with all of the following courses offered in-person:

(An overall 2.0 GPA must be obtained in the required certificate courses to successfully exit)
- The suggested terms noted above for taking courses should be followed if the student plans to complete the certificate in one year.
- Students who have not completed Accounting 30S or Accounting 40S (or equivalent) must complete 16:090 Bookkeeping: Manual and Computer-Assisted prior to enrolling in 16:151 Financial Accounting.
- Pre/co-req waivers to be considered ONLY for those students enrolled in the certificate program
- All courses to be offered by Brandon University and no transfer credits to be considered
- This certificate, which is issued by the Faculty of Arts, may be completed as a stand-alone credential or subsequently laddered into an undergraduate degree at Brandon University.
Certificate in French Language Proficiency
Certificate in French Language Proficiency
Two Certificates in French Language Proficiency (CFLP) are offered through the Faculty of Arts with the department of Francophone Studies and Languages at Brandon University. These certificates provide students with the necessary practical and theoretical language skills to become efficient speakers and writers of French in their personal or professional lives. The CFLP I is intended for those students who have limited or no previous knowledge of French, while the CFLP II pathway is intended for students who have acquired high school French. All courses taken in the certificate program are regular credit courses and may be used later for credit toward a B.A. or B.Sc.
Certificate in Public History
Certificate in Public History
The Certificate in Public History (CPH) provides students with the necessary practical and theoretical skills to become effective and engaged public historians.
In addition to providing students with essential and advanced knowledge of public history and its many forms, the CPH opens broader employment opportunities locally, nationally, and beyond, where having public history research, writing, and project development and management skills and experience may be an asset, such as government positions, education, business, and health.
If students have met the minimal course requirements, they have the option to ladder their certificate into an undergraduate degree at BU.
Program Requirements
The CPH requires 12 credit hours of Public History courses and 3 credit hours of a first-year history course. Students should note that some courses may not be offered in any given year.
Students enrolled in a CPH must complete 15 credit hours consisting of:
- 54.250 Introduction to Public History (minimum grade of C) (3 Cr. Hrs.)
Choose: one of the following (3 Cr. Hrs.):
- 54:153 World History to 1500 (3)
- 54:154 World History Since 1500 (3)
- 54:155 Canada to Confederation (3)
- 54:156 Canada Since Confederation 3
Choose: three of the following (9 Cr. Hrs.)
- 54:341 Understanding Archives (minimum grade of C) 3
- 54.351 Museums (minimum grade of C) 3
- 54:356 Public History in Canada (minimum grade of C) 3
- 54.371 Oral History (minimum grade of C) 3
Total: 15 Cr. Hrs.

This certificate is a stand-alone credential issued through the Faculty of Arts. All courses in a completed certificate may be laddered subsequently into a degree program at Brandon University; students who have completed the certificate and wish to ladder the certificate courses into a degree must apply for the degree program through the Admissions Office in respect of published deadlines. In most cases, all courses completed while in the certificate program will apply to the degree program.

The Justice System Certificate (JSC) is offered through the Faculty of Arts with the Departments of Political Science, Sociology, and Native Studies at Brandon University. The JSC is designed to meet the needs of persons who are interested in or currently working within the justice system. The program consists of 30 credit hours of university study. All courses taken in the certificate program are regular credit courses and may be used later for credit toward a B.A., or B.Sc.
