Choral Ensembles

Brandon University ChoraleThe Choral Ensembles at BU comprises three choirs namely the BU Chorale, BU Concert Choir and the BU Women’s Voices. The BU Chorale, an advanced choir, specializes in presenting works for small ensembles from a variety of historical periods. This awarded ensemble has toured, internationally, nationally and has been invited, on occasions, to perform at the New Music Festival in Winnipeg. Our largest choral ensemble, the Concert Choir includes more than 50 voices. They occasionally join forces with BU orchestra or BU Brass Ensemble. Recent performances featured Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Stravinsky’s Symphony of psalms, Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, and Poulenc’s Gloria. BU Women’s Voices have a tradition of performing a varied style of music. Invited regularly to perform for community events, the choir is equally at ease in world music and classical music. In Fall 2011 the three BU choral ensembles will perform Handel’s Messiah with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.  Upon an audition, the BU Choral Ensembles welcome voice majors, music students, the university community and the Brandon community.
