12th Clear Lake Music Festival


 The second week of July marks the twelfth season of the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival directed by pianists Alexander Tselyakov and Daniel Tselyakov. This year’s festival is comprised of six concerts: a piano recital, three chamber concerts and two jazz concerts. Performances run from Wednesday, July 12 – Sunday, July 16 and feature a wide variety of musical styles and artists.

The Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival continues to be an important part of Canada’s cultural calendar, delighting people of all ages with a powerful musical experience. This year’s ambitious schedule is sure to please, and promises to inspire new lovers of classical music, as well as satisfy the appetites of seasoned enthusiasts. The wide variety in programming will make for an engaging program, and the exceptional musical talent guarantees an exciting and pleasurable experience for all.

CELEBRATING 12 YEARS OF CHAMBER MUSIC, the 2017 Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival will bring music to four Manitoba communities: the Erickson Lutheran Church  (Saturday, July 15 – Sunday, July 16); Lorne Watson Recital Hall in Brandon – Alexander Tselyakov and Daniel Tselyakov the Opening Night  (Wednesday, July  12) and Chamber Concert (Thursday, July 13), Wasagaming Community Arts, Wasagaming in Clear Lake (Friday, July 14) and “The Martese” at the Marina in Clear Lake (Saturday, July 15).

One of Brahms’ best loved clarinet-piano sonatas and the rarely performed highly romantic and dramatic Piano Quintet in C major by Béla Bartók are considered two of the great masterpieces in chamber repertoire. These works will be performed by Alexander Tselyakov, Piano; Peter Stoll, Clarinet; Oleg Pokhanovski, Rodica Jeffrey, Violins; Laszlo Baroczi, Viola; and Brian Yoon, Cello.

Festival Grand Finale

Erickson Lutheran Church
The program will include the excellent Britten’s Suite for Violin and Piano with lots of wit and humour and an occasional sinister edge. The Beethoven Piano Quartet Op. 16 is similar to a miniature chamber piano concerto with the virtuosic keyboard part being so critical. It will certainly make a Grand Finale to the Festival.
