What is Pre-Orientation?

Pre-Orientation is an event that allows students to gather on campus to better understand the information about the transition to university. It is a chance to speak with people face-to-face and have your questions answered. Students and their family will meet faculty/staff, watch presentations, and take a campus tour.

We also offer a virtual Pre-Orientation, for those who may be unable to travel to campus prior to the start of the term, as an opportunity to speak with staff and students to obtain information about preparing to attend.

Who should attend Pre-Orientation?

The event is for new students who have been admitted for September 2025 or January 2026 to help prepare for university. Parents and supports are encouraged to attend. The intended outcomes for Pre-Orientation include:

  • Connection – students will have the opportunity to meet and connect with other new students.
  • Familiarity – students will feel comfortable on campus and have a basic knowledge of the services available to them.
  • Parental Satisfaction – parents and supporters will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about how to prepare for fall, and better understand the transition to university.
  • Detailed Information – students and family will be able to ask specific questions about their program of study, services and supports offered, and about preparing to attend.
