Glenice Deterville is a researcher with the Rural Development Institute of Brandon University as well as a Real Estate Assistant with Meighen Haddad LLP. She received her education at Brandon University with a Master’s in Rural Development. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management and International Business from the University of Technology, Jamaica and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Development (International Development) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.

Her scholarly curiosity and intellectual prowess led her to academic explorations of the subject from a young age. She became curious about the role of women in rural development, which opened her to the idea that health and wellness can emerge in places facing severe food insecurity, poor housing and corruption. The extent to which women could draw on their collective power and role as caregivers to lobby local government and legitimately participate in the community was the very definition of their empowerment. This academic exploration and her work with the rural municipalities of southern Manitoba fueled her desire to continue her studies in this area. She is an avid researcher, and her desire is to further her education in the field of Rural Studies at the University of Guelph as a doctorate student. Teaching has been a major part of her life, and she wishes to continue her love of educating, informing and developing curious minds.

Her role as a present researcher with RDI is to revise the database in collaboration with project partners and participate in Indigenous communities as well as conduct an Environmental Scan of disciplines related to Food production, Project management, Human Resources, Product marketing, and others as deemed applicable.
