Adu Richard is a Research Assistant at the Rural Development Institute, and is set to graduate from Brandon University with a Master’s degree in Rural Development. He currently holds a Master of Science in Industrial Finance and Investment, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics - both from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana.

Richard is currently the Graduate Studies Director at the Brandon University Student Union. He is an Alumni of the Africa German Entrepreneurship Academy Summer School in Leipzig, Germany and named among the top 100 Leaders of Tomorrow at the Global Biotech Revolutions Summit in United Kingdom.

He has been awarded Certificate of Achievement for the African Presidential Leadership Program, organized by the National Training Academy (Cairo-Egypt) under the auspices of the President of Egypt. He also holds a Certificate of Achievement from the Global Open Data Management in Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN) Action which is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Richard is currently working on a Community Well-being project that seeks to evaluate how community insights can enhance community foundation impact in rural Manitoba.  This will help in examining the Community Index of Wellbeing Framework and to inform policy decisions at the local and national level. His interest in agricultural economics, policy analysis and development, business, and community development as well as entrepreneurship helps him to effectively work in interdisciplinary teams.

Richard seeks to explores new rural areas and opportunities to empower rural Canada.
