A report from a workshop that brought rural health researchers from Canadian universities and agencies, together with program administrators and policy makers from Health Canada, Statistics Canada, and the Rural Secretariat, and experts from Australia and the USA, to discuss defining ‘rural’ and ‘rurality’ for health and health service research in general, and to inform, in particular, the use of large health databases and surveys.
