Office of Research Services (ORS)

The ORS Supports Researchers by:

  • Providing information about internal, provincial, and national research funding opportunities;
  • Acting as a liaison between the institution and funding agencies/organization by advising researchers of new opportunities and initiatives, changes in funding programs, associated guidelines and procedures, and regulatory requirements;
  • Advising on the preparation of funding applications and reviewing to ensure adherence to internal and external policies and guidelines, including contracts, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, etc.;
  • Signing-off on ALL external research applications and contracts PRIOR TO submitting to external organizations. The Vice-President (Research & Graduate Studies) is the formal institutional signing authority for all research applications and contracts. The Vice-President’s signature acknowledges that the institution supports the project and agrees to administer the funding;
  • Providing training opportunities, information sessions, and networking events;
  • Ensuring compliance with institutional and funder policies and guidelines, including human ethics, animal care, biosafety, and research security; and
  • Disseminating and promoting research.
