Office of Research Services (ORS)
The Brandon University Office of Research Services is the first point of contact for faculty members seeking financial support for their research programs.
The ORS Supports Researchers by:
- Providing information about internal, provincial, and national research funding opportunities;
- Acting as a liaison between the institution and funding agencies/organization by advising researchers of new opportunities and initiatives, changes in funding programs, associated guidelines and procedures, and regulatory requirements;
- Advising on the preparation of funding applications and reviewing to ensure adherence to internal and external policies and guidelines, including contracts, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, etc.;
- Signing-off on ALL external research applications and contracts PRIOR TO submitting to external organizations. The Vice-President (Research & Graduate Studies) is the formal institutional signing authority for all research applications and contracts. The Vice-President’s signature acknowledges that the institution supports the project and agrees to administer the funding;
- Providing training opportunities, information sessions, and networking events;
- Ensuring compliance with institutional and funder policies and guidelines, including human ethics, animal care, biosafety, and research security; and
- Disseminating and promoting research.
