Recommended High School Courses

Although not required for admission to Brandon University, Biology 40S is a pre-requisite for Anatomy & Physiology and Math 40S Pre-Calculus or Applied is a pre-requisite for Introduction to Statistics. Grade 12 English is required. As a result of pre-requisite requirements for Anatomy & Physiology and Introduction to Statistics, it is highly recommended that students entering Pre-Psychiatric Nursing have completed Biology 40S and Math 40S Pre-Calculus or Applied.

Requisite Skills, Abilities and Capacities for BScPN Students

Applicants must be able to demonstrate all requisite skills and abilities as these are requirements for the BScPN program and the demands of the profession of Psychiatric Nursing.

Applicants are admitted to Brandon University by completing the Admissions application online or by contacting Brandon University Admissions Office at admissions@brandonu.ca. Applications and required documentation should be forwarded to the Admissions office as early as possible to meet application/document deadlines.

Admission to Year 2 of the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN) Program

Admission Requirements

Students may apply and will be considered for admission into the BScPN program providing each Pre-Psychiatric Nursing course is completed with a “C” grade or higher and an overall admission GPA of 2.5 is obtained.

Seat capacity in Year 2 of the program is limited to 35 students at the Brandon campus and 60 students at the Winnipeg campus.

In keeping with Brandon University’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity, a proportion of seats in the program are reserved for graduates of Indigenous Health Studies Transition (IHST) program, applicants who are of Indigenous ancestry, and applicants who are People of Colour.

Applicants to the psychiatric nursing program are ranked, based on the merit of the application, until the maximum enrollment is reached.

How to Apply

Application forms can be obtained from the B.Sc.P.N. Student Advisor Moodle site starting January 2026. Students must apply to the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing program by May 1st of the year of the desired entry to the program.
