International Cooperation Agreement

Brandon University (BU) and Dalian University (DLU) agree to cooperate in academic exchanges, program de4velopment and research. This document establishes the guiding terms and principles of collaboration between the two institutions.

I. Legal frameworks of both universities
Both universities are accredited by Ministry of Education of China as formal public universities.
II. Common interests and objectives of BU and DLU
Develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships.
III. Purpose of the Agreement
Given the interest of both schools to establish ties of academic cooperation in order to contribute to the achievement of their overall goals as public institutions of higher education, this agreement seeks to create a multi-disciplinary, multi-level relationship between BU and DLU. It does not purport to prescribe areas of collaboration, but rather to provide a framework to facilitate the exploration of specific actions that may be taken for the mutual benefit of the two schools. Potential areas include, but are not limited to:
1. Cooperative projects for both undergraduates and postgraduates: “2+2” or “3 + 1” projects for undergraduates, and combined training project for postgraduates;
2. Cooperative development of courses, academic programs, and short-term programs;
3. Development of joint scientific and/or technological research projects;
4. Other activities of mutual interest regarding academic or scientific and technological research matters.
IV. Execution of the Agreement
The specific activities to be carried out under this agreement will be stated in corresponding specific sub-agreements. Such specific sub-agreements, once approved by both parties, will be attached as annexes to this agreement.
The specific sub-agreements between both universities will specify their objectives, conditions and ways of execution, financial support, period the sub-agreement will be in effect, and administrative responsibility within each institution.
V. Term and Expiration of the Agreement
This agreement will be effective on the date it has been signed by both parties, and it will be in effect for a period of five (5) years. The agreement can be renewed for additional five (5) year periods by mutual consent of the parties. A letter stating the intention of renewing this agreement by both institutions will formalize this renewal process. Both parties reserve the right to terminate this agreement upon written notice given six months prior to the termination date becoming effective. In the case of termination of this agreement, projects which have been initiated during the time this agreement was in effect shall continue with full support of the respective institutions until their completion.
Any additions, changes or deletions to this document must be approved by these representatives of both universities. All disputes the parties cannot resolve with good faith consultations will be settled in accordance with the arbitration rules of the international chamber of commerce and submitted to the China international econom8ic and trade arbitration commission for arbitration. All notices shall be in writing and shall be directed to these individuals as follows:
