Percussionist Brendan Thompson is a highly active performer throughout Manitoba. He performs regularly with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, including his role as the Acting Principal Timpanist for the 2014/15 season. In addition, Brendan has performed with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Opera, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

An enthusiast of musical theatre, Brendan has been the pit drummer/percussionist for over 30 musical theatre productions with companies such as Rainbow Stage, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Winnipeg Studio Theatre, and Dry Cold Productions. He also serves as the current Musician-in-Residence at Charleswood United Church. An avid sports fan, Brendan combines his passion for music and sports in his role as Music Director of the Winnipeg Blue Bomber Drumline.

Brendan graduated with his Bachelor of Music (Percussion Performance) degree from the University of Manitoba, and earned his Master of Music (Percussion Performance) degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN.

With a strong interest in music education, Brendan is active as a clinician and educator throughout Manitoba. He currently teaches as a sessional instructor at both Brandon University and the Canadian Mennonite University.
