Retaining Migrants in Rural Communities

The aim of this Webinar was to present perspectives on the retention of migrants in rural areas drawing on Canadian and UK (Scottish) experiences. With three presentations, this Webinar served to examine retention strategies in the UK, specifically Scotland, where setting the policy context was considered important to ensuring a better understanding for the largely Canadian audience. Retention strategies were also presented, from the perspective of a province (Manitoba) especially focusing on the contribution of service providers. Besides examining different geographical aspects (UK and in Canada), a novel aspect of this Webinar was a review of a range of human resource strategies for retaining employees aimed at owners of businesses in rural areas.
