Research Interests

Dr. Joe Stouffer holds a PhD in Language and Literacy Education from the University of British Columbia and is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy in the Brandon University Faculty of Education. His teaching and research interests include early literacy development, literacy interventions, and teachers' use of formative assessment in reading and writing instruction. A former classroom teacher and Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, he has also supported K-8 literacy instruction as a consultant in schools across Canada. Dr. Stouffer is the recipient of the 2022 Brandon University Senate Award for Excellence in Teaching.
