Ariadna Ortega

What education have you taken?
I studied my bachelor’s in cello performance at UNAM, Mexico, and I am pursuing my Master in cello performance at BU.
What accomplishments are you proud of?
Musical projects I have developed, such as artistic residencies, collaborations and new music commissions
Give a brief bio about yourself/ your background/ your history.
I was born in Mexico City and studied music since I was young. During my undergrad, I got immersed into experimental music , where I learned to explore my creativity. Right now I’m preparing myself to follow that creative path, keep learning from others and reach more people with my music.
How did you become interested in your field of study?
My dad’s passion for music and my mom’s diligence led me to love making-music since I was a child.
What is your philosophy in life?
Some values I care about in my life and art are experimentation, community and honesty. Experimentation as an approach to life to embrace risk-taking, and open-mindedness. Community in a sense of prioritizing meaningful relationships that care for each other. Lastly, I believe that to make powerful art, the topics and approaches have to come from a place of honest interest, something that I pursue everyday.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Creating projects and collaborations with new people, and offering unique combinations of art, minds and places.

Normalizing equity and breaking stereotypes amongst young people and showing that in my projects.
