Where is Brandon?

What is the climate like?

The summer season is from May to September with daytime temperatures from 12°C (54°F) to 30°C (79°F). The months of November through February usually have considerable amounts of snow and temperatures below freezing. Average temperature for January: -17°C (0°F). Average temperature for July: 25°C (75°F).

Do I need a visa to study at Brandon University?

You do not require a study permit to study English for less than six (6) months; however, you may need a visa to enter Canada. Contact the nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate for more information about visas. When you register and pay your deposit, we will send you an official letter of acceptance which you can use to apply for a study permit.

How early should I apply?

Visa applications and other paperwork can take a long time, so you should apply as early as possible. Make contact now so that you will not have to rush later:    international@brandonu.ca

Are there scholarships for English study at Brandon University?

Currently there are no scholarships for English for Academic Purposes students, nor are there entrance scholarships for international students at Brandon University. Scholarships are available to international students who are in their second year of regular degree studies and beyond, based on academic merit.

Is there a deposit for the EAP Program?

Yes. The deposit is $300.00 (CDN). This fee is included in the cost of tuition. It is non-refundable, but will be held on account for you indefinitely.

If I am not able to get a study permit, do I get my tuition back?

Application fees, residence deposits, courier fees, airport pickup fees and tuition deposit amounts are non-refundable. If you have pre-paid your tuition and do not get a study permit, all tuition (less the deposit) will be refunded upon receipt of the visa refusal letter and the original letter of acceptance.

What is the class size?

Classes are small so that you can receive the necessary individual attention from instructors. While class sizes vary, the average class size is between 8-12 students.

What levels of English instruction do you offer?

We have four levels of instruction, ranging from level 1 to level 4.
