Brandon University – Brandon Flight Centre PLAR Agreement

Brandon University is pleased to announce that the Ground School and In-Flight Training offered by the Brandon Flight Centre (BFC) has been recognized for PLAR credit. Under this agreement, three credentials are awarded PLAR credit:

3 cr/hrs Unallocated at the 1st year level in Geography and Environment

3 cr/hrs Unallocated at the 2nd year level in Geography and Environment

3 cr/hrs Unallocated at the 1st year level in Physics and Astronomy

Private Pilot License – In-Flight Training 3 PLAR cr/hrs at the 1st year level in the Faculty of Science
Commercial Pilot License – Ground School 6 cr/hrs Unallocated at the 2nd year level in Geography and Environment

3 cr/hrs Unallocated at the 1st year level in Physics and Astronomy

3 cr/hrs Unallocated at the 1st year level in Psychology

Commercial Pilot License – In-Flight Training 3 PLAR cr/hrs at the 2nd year level in the Faculty of Science
Multi-engine and Multi-engine Instrumentation Ratings – Ground School & In-flight Training 3 PLAR cr/hrs at the 2nd year level in the Faculty of Science

Only individuals who have been admitted to Brandon University are eligible to seek PLAR credit for completed BFC flight training.

Once admitted, students are to consult with the PLAR Coordinator to review the BU PLAR process prior to completing the PLAR Application Form and paying the applicable PLAR Fee. Students must also provide documentation attesting to the completion of their credential(s).

Students are to be aware that this BU/BFC PLAR agreement does not constitute a new degree program.

  • The PLAR credits are integrated into degree programs offered through the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science.
  • All degree program regulations remain in place, including specific degree program core and elective course requirements and Liberal Education requirements.
  • PLAR credit counts against residence (i.e., does not count as credit taken at BU) for the purpose degree residence requirements.
  • The BFC Flight training may be completed prior to admission to Brandon University or completed concurrently with a degree program undertaken at Brandon University.
  • Students who have completed flight training at another centre are asked to contact the Brandon Flight Centre regarding an assessment of equivalent training.
