Teaching is a rewarding profession and a great opportunity to have a positive impact on children’s lives. BU’s Faculty of Education prepares teachers for Early Years (Kindergarten-Grade 4), Middle Years (Grades 5-8), and Senior Years (Grades 9-12).

The Bachelor of Education After Degree (BEdAD) program is the option for most students. You apply to the program in the last term of your three or four-year undergraduate degree (e.g. Bachelor of Arts). The deadline for applications is January 15th of each year.

When applying to the BEdAD program, you will be evaluated based on your degree GPA, which must be a minimum 2.5, your teachable subject areas, your work experience with children, your references, your cover letter and résumé.

Within your undergraduate degree, you will need two teachable subject areas. For Early and Middle Years, you need 18 credit hours (six courses) in your first teachable subject area and 12 credit hours (four courses) in your second teachable subject area. For Senior Years, you will need 30 credit hours (ten courses) in your first teachable subject and 18 credit hours (six courses) in your second teachable subject area. For further B. Ed.
