An accomplishment I am proud of is playing 6 years of basketball as a Bobcat while completing this degree. During this time, I have received the Tracy MacLeod Inspirational award, the BIRT Cup scholarship and two Academic All-Canadian awards.

Give a brief bio about yourself/ your background/ your history.

I am 23 years old and grew up in Virden, Manitoba. Coming from a small town, I developed a passion for sports as I had the opportunity to learn and play all of them! I have spent many spring breaks skiing in Fernie, B.C. which is one of my favourite places to relax and have fun with family and friends. Now that I will be graduating, I am looking forward to pursuing physiotherapy as my career.

How did you become interested in your field of study?

Being a sports fanatic, I have always been interested in fitness, rehabilitation and anatomy. I knew the physical education program and eventually physiotherapy, was what I wanted to do.

What is your philosophy in life?

My philosophy in life is “everything happens for a reason”.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

In the future, I see myself living in a rural area and working as a physiotherapist. I plan to continue to stay active through playing sports and hope to travel more.

Nominator’s Comments:

Logan Biccum will be graduating with a degree in Physical Education – Exercise Science stream. She has aspirations of moving on to physiotherapy school at the University of Manitoba.

Logan, from Virden, Manitoba, has been a member and co-captain of the Brandon University Women’s Basketball team. For 6 years, she has been one of the most hard-working, dedicated members of the team who leads by example. Logan’s commitments to her academics and athletics have resulted in her being awarded with the Academic-All Canadian award multiple times. Her contributions extend beyond the court and classroom. Logan has volunteered numerous times in the community and has also coached and mentored youth in various basketball programs. For the above reasons, I believe that Logan Biccum is deserving of being celebrated as one of BU’s exceptional female students.
