Call forward

 

To program the phone so calls to your number are routed to another line:

  1. Do not lift the handset (no dial tone).
  2. Press .
  3. Dial the 3-digit number to which calls should be routed (on-campus only).
  4. Press FORWARD again. An arrow in the display next to the button will light to indicate that calls are now being forwarded.

To cancel call forwarding:

  • Press FORWARD. The arrow in the display next to the button will disappear to indicate that calls are no longer being forwarded.

To re-activate call forwarding to the same number:

  • Press FORWARD twice.

Call hold

To place a call on hold, during which the caller can neither speak to you nor hear you:

  1. While a call is in progress, press hold. An arrow in the display next to LINEwill flash to indicate that the call is on hold.
  2. Press LINE to resume the call.

To listen to a caller while they are on hold:

  1. While a call is on hold, replace the handset in the phone cradle.
  2. Press LINE.
  3. Pick up the handset to resume the call.

Call transfer

To connect an incoming call to another line (on-campus only):

  1. Press TRANSFER to transfer the call to another line and disconnect your line OR press CONFERENCEto connect to another line and remain connected.
  2. Dial the number (if no answer, busy or misdial, press the flashing LINEto return to the original caller).
  3. Announce the call to the new party.
  4. Press TRANFER or CONFERENCE.
  5. Replace the handset or press RLS.

Call waiting

To receive an incoming phone call while you are talking to another caller:

  1. A short buzz will be heard to notify you that another call is waiting at the switchboard.
  2. Terminate the current call by pressing RLS.
  3. Replace the handset.
  4. The phone will ring with the new call.

Conference calls (on-campus)

To have more than one party participate in a call:

  1. While a call is in progress, press CONFERENCE.
  2. Dial the 3-digit phone number of the party to add to the conference (if no answer, busy or misdial, press the flashing LINEto return to the original caller).
  3. Announce the conference to the new party.
  4. Press CONFERENCE.
  5. Repeat these steps for each person to be added to the conference call.

Hear voice mail

To listen to new or existing voice mail:

  1. The voice mail indicator lights to indicate the presence of new voice mail.
  2. Select a free line.
  3. Press MESSAGE or dial extension 400(727-7400 if dialled from off-campus).
  4. When prompted for your mailbox number, press # or type your 3-digit phone number (if checking voice mail away from your phone). Then enter your password and press #.
  5. When finished listening to voice mail, replace the handset or press RLS.

Last number redial

To redial the most recently dialled number on your phone (regardless of whether you connected to it successfully or not):

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press LINE once.

OR

  1. Do not lift the handset.
  2. Press LINEtwice.
  3. Lift the handset when you hear the dialled number pick up.

On-hook dialling

To dial a number without the lifting the handset:

  1. Press LINEonce and wait for dial tone.
  2. Dial the number.
  3. Lift the handset when ringing starts.
  4. If the line is busy, press RLS to disconnect the call OR press RING AGAIN and RLS to have the phone notify you when the dialled number is free (on-campus numbers only).

Private consultation

To consult privately with another party while a call is in progress:

  1. Press CONFERENCE OR TRANSFER (if no answer, busy or misdial, press the flashing LINEto return to the original caller).
  2. Dial the number of the party you wish to consult privately.
  3. Complete the call.
  4. Press the flashing LINE to return to the original caller.

Ring again (on-campus)

To be notified when an on-campus call for which you received a busy signal becomes available:

  1. When a dialled number produces a busy signal, press RING AGAIN. An arrow in the display next to the button will light to indicate that ring-again notification is active.
  2. Replace the handset or press RLS.

When the busy line becomes available, the phone will produce a short buzz. To connect to the line:

  1. Select a free line.
  2. Press RING AGAIN to dial the previously busy line.

To cancel notification when the busy line becomes available:

Press RING AGAIN. The arrow in the display next to the button will disappear to indicate that notification has been cancelled.

Send voice mail

To deposit voice mail for an on-campus party:

  1. Select a free line.
  2. Dial the express messaging extension 401(727-7401 if dialled from off-campus).
  3. When prompted for the mailbox number into which voice mail should be placed, type the 3-digit phone number.
  4. After recording the voice mail, replace the handset or press RLS.

Speed call

To program a commonly dialled off-campus number into one of the ten available speed calls:

  1. Do not lift the handset (no dial tone).
  2. Press SPEED DIAL.
  3. Press one of the ten digits (0 through 9) on the phone to assign the speed call to that digit.
  4. Dial the complete phone number for the speed call (including the prefix 9 for outside calls and 1204for long-distance calls).
  5. Press SPEED DIAL again to complete speed call programming.

To dial a programmed speed call number:

  1. Select a free line.
  2. Press SPEED DIAL plus the digit to which the speed call was programmed.
