Brandon University Manitoba Graduate Scholarships (BU-MGS)

The BU-MGS is a research-based scholarship that helps Manitoba’s best students continue their studies at home and attracts excellent students to study in our province.

CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC Graduate Scholarship Harmonization:  The Tri-Agency harmonized the Canada Graduate Scholarships program from each agency and redesigned the application and procedures into one common process.  The following three graduate scholarships fall under the CGS-M Program:

  1. Canada Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) – Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships
  2. Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) – Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships
  3. Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) – Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY:  To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
  • Be enrolled in, or intend to apply for full-time admission to an eligible graduate program at the Master’s level at a Canadian institution with a CGS-M allocation;
  • Have completed, as of December 31 of application year, b/w zero and 12 months of full-time studies;
  • Not have previously held as CGS-M; and
  • Have achieved a first-class average, determined by the host university, in the last 2 years of study.

VALUE:  $17,500 for 12 months, non-renewable.
