Admission Requirements – Canadian High School Applicants

Manitoba High School Students and Graduates

If you are currently attending or have graduated from an accredited high school in Manitoba (with no ‘M’, ‘I’ or ‘E’ courses), you will be given a conditional Offer of Admission once we receive your application, non-refundable application fee and high school marks.

High School Students/Graduates from other Provinces and Territories

Alberta; Northwest Territories; Nova Scotia; Nunavut; Prince Edward Island High School graduation with a minimum average of 60% on five Grade 12 university preparatory subjects including English.
British Columbia; Yukon High School graduation with a minimum average of 60%, including English 12 or English First Peoples 12, and 3 other university preparatory subjects.
New Brunswick High School graduation with a minimum average of 60% on six university preparatory subjects including English.
Newfoundland High School graduation with a minimum overall average of 60% per cent on ten university preparatory credits including English.
Ontario High School graduation with a minimum of 60% average on six Grade 12 U/M courses including English.
Quebec First year CEGEP with an overall average of 60% on at least 12 academic, or Grade 12 standing from a Quebec Department of Education recognized private school.
Saskatchewan High School graduation with a minimum average of 60% on 5 university preparatory subjects at the 30 level including English 30A and 30B.

International Baccalaureate

Students with an International Baccalaureate Diploma with an overall score of 24 points are considered to have the equivalent of Manitoba High School Graduation for purposes of admission to Brandon University. The IB Diploma must contain at least three Higher Level courses, with the remaining courses being either the Higher Level or the Standard Level.

Students taking Grade 12 along with the IB Diploma or IB subjects will be considered for admission on the basis of their regular Grade 12 subject areas. A minimum score of 4 is required on each higher level IB course to be considered for possible transfer of credit.

Transfer credit is voluntary and students eligible to receive transfer credit must submit the AP/IB Transfer Request Form to the Admissions Office by the first day of class.

Arts and Science pre-requisites may differ for 3 Year Major or Minor. High School perquisites may differ for those planning to take first year (100) level course only and not a major or minor.
